It sounds so much better...

when it's in Urdu.

It just says 'the journey was itself the destination, so all my travels were successful'.. which isn't very profound (or new). I just thought it sounds better the way Faiz has written it. Since it's the 'maqtaa' (closing sher) of the Gazal it has his 'takhallus' (pen name) in it for identification.

another sher from this Gazal I liked:

kar rahaa thaa Gam-e-jahaa.N kaa hisaab
aaj tum yaad behisaab aaye

I came here to ask for a translation. Nice to see that it has already been done. After knowing what it means, it totally makes sense though.

btw, it reminded me of a sher along similar lines:

Hum bhi dariyaa hai, humen apna hunar maloom hai
Jis taraf bhi chal padenge raasta ho jayega
